S. Shabnam, from Thiruvananthapuram, has secured the 1st rank in this year’s medical PG NEET examination. She, who has a score of 1,248.50 out of 1,500 in the nation-wide examination has stated “hard work and consistency” as her success mantra. Nearly 1 lakh MBBS students have written the exam.
Shabnam has completed her MBBS from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. She wants to specialize in Cardiology. For a short duration she has worked in a cardiology wing in a private hospital.
She is currently doing her post-graduation in general medicine at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Examination and Research in Puducherry.
While sharing her tips and techniques on preparation for PG NEET Examination she said that she used to devote 12 hours a day for preparing. While preparing she realized that spending time with family and friends was the best way to get relieved from stress.
Shabnam says, Earlier, MD and DNB were two separate examinations. Previously students had to appear for two separate exams one in the state and the other at the national level to qualify for post-graduation, but today it has come under one single examination and therefore the questions pattern has also changed.
